Welcome to Region 6
Welcome to the Region 6 website! We have nearly 1400 members in eighteen school districts spread throughout the northeast corner of
Idaho
, from Firth to Ashton and Arco to Salmon. We represent teachers, classified employees, and even a few administrators. We also have retired and student members.
Dan Sakota
, the region president, brings a unique perspective to his position. He has served as a member of the NEA’s Executive Committee and as IEA vice-president. He knows the value of the Association on all levels.
Lane Owens
, the region vice-president, also serves on the IEA’s Resolutions Committee, and has a real understanding of the IEA’s guiding principles.
Michelle Sakota
, the region secretary, also serves on the Resolutions Committee. She is a para-professional in
Idaho Falls
, and is the IFEA president-elect. Along with the IEA Board members, this leadership team demonstrates that UNITY WORKS!

Offer for New Educators
NEA has a special Member Benefits offer for those who have joined the Association since 9/1/07. New members can get a FREE SUBSCRIPTION to any Weekly Reader classroom magazine for the remainder of the 2007-08 school year.
Click on one of the magazines for details!
Pay for Performance
Thanks to all of your efforts, the issue of pay for performance is dead for this year’s legislative session. However, the IEA has made the offer to meet with stakeholder groups before next year’s session to see if we can find common ground. We know that pay for performance is a national issue right now, and the IEA feels the need to be involved in and steer the conversation to something that is helpful for teachers. We will keep you informed as events unfold, so please keep checking the IEA webstite for the latest news on this issue.
Attorney Referral ProgramNeed an attorney?
NEA has for many years provided members full legal protection in employment-related matters. But in today's complex world, simply having legal help for employment-related matters isn't enough. At one time or another, each of us needs legal counsel on personal matters that are important to us and our families.
During any membership year (from Sept. 1--Aug. 31), eligible members are entitled to two, free *30 minute consultation sessions with any of these Association-approved attorneys. During the two free *sessions, you may discuss almost any legal matter except income tax preparation.
In addition to these free consultations, members may have specific legal work performed in five "core" areas at a 30 percent reduction of that attorney's normal fee.
Participating attorneys must agree to discus fees before they render services. And they must be willing to accept payment of their fees by some installment payment plan. In some cases, that my even include credit cards.
- The "Core" areas:
-Wills and Estates
-Real Estate
-Domestic Relations
-Consumer Protection
-Traffic Violations

*The free consultation benefit allows you to discuss your problem with an attorny to determine whether you need additional legal services. Do not expect the attorney to draft or review documents during a consultation. If you ask the attorney to provide additional services, such as preparing a will, you will be billed at discounted program rates. Some restrictions apply.
