A record number of 537 IEA members attended the 116^th annual Delegate Assembly in Boise April 11-12. They raised more than $37,000 for the Children’s Fund and turned in payroll deduction commitments that will increased the Fund’s revenues by more than $12,000 next year. Delegates also approved the IEA’s budget and legislative program, adopted resolutions, nominated candidates for IEA office, and debated eight new business items. Friend of Education Awards were presented to educator-astronaut Barbara Morgan and retiring IEA Executive Director Jim Shackelford. Other IEA awards were given to Susan Hamby, Filer; the Meridian School District Transportation Department; the Rexburg Education Association; Dr. Chris Pickford, Boise; and Nancy Larsen, Coeur d’Alene.  For more information about Delegate Assembly actions, watch for the next issue of the IEA Reporter coming in June.
