Celebrate Young Americans on April 30 PDF Print

The NEA is teaming with the National Latino Children’s Institute to promote El Dia de los Ninos (Children’s Day) – Celebrating Young Americans. The day is celebrated annually on April 30 by many countries around the world, especially throughout the Western hemisphere. It emphasizes the importance of young people’s contributions to their communities and draws attention to challenges they may face.

A growing number of cities, schools, libraries, museums, churches, and other community organizations are embracing this celebration. NEA members are joining with Members of Congress, families, communities, and the private sector to honor and uplift children on this special day. On this April 30, NEA will partner with such groups as the Ford Motor Company, Kraft Foods, the Public Broadcasting Service, and Scholastic for a press conference to demonstrate support and commitment to children.

Celebrations may be as small as a classroom activity or as large as a citywide event. Pictures of your events and activities can be shared nationwide. They will be posted on the NEA’s Minority Community Outreach web site and the official National Latino Children’s Institute web site.
